Climate in Thailand
The climate in Thailand can generally be described as tropical, but there are regional differences. The north of Thailand has a humid savannah climate, which is monsoonal and makes three different seasons recognizable. The slightly cooler dry season in the north lasts from the beginning of November to the end of February.
Subsequently, the Thai summer runs from the beginning of March to around the end of May with very hot temperatures, before the rainy season in northern Thailand usually ensures heavy rainfall, high humidity and muggy and warm conditions in early June to late October.
The center around the capital Bangkok is climatically part of the tropical savannah zone in the north and is considered to be humid with a longer dry season. The south of Thailand, on the other hand, has more constant temperatures all year round, with only minor fluctuations.
The climate on the popular holiday islands is therefore rather humid and tropical all year round. So there is also tropical rainfall during the northeast monsoon in winter. With the summer southwest monsoons, however, there is a significant increase in humidity and rainfall.
This rainy season in the south runs similar to the north of Thailand from the beginning of June to the end of October. The islands in the southeast (especially Koh Samui) have less rainfall and a shorter rainy season than the areas in the southwest (e.g. Phuket). May, October and November in particular are very humid here.
