According to wholevehicles, Macedonia is a country located in the Balkan region of Europe, bordered by Bulgaria to the east, Albania to the west, Greece to the south and Serbia and Kosovo to the north. It has an area of 9,781 square miles and a population of around 2. 1 million people as of 2020. The capital city is Skopje and it has a rich cultural heritage with influences from both Eastern and Western civilizations. The geography of Macedonia consists mostly of mountains with some valleys in between. The highest peak is Mount Korab which stands at 8,852 feet tall. It has an abundance of natural resources including minerals such as copper, zinc and lead as well as forests which cover around 30% of the land area. Education in Macedonia is structured into three levels: primary (6-14 years old), secondary (15-18 years old) and tertiary (18+ years old). Primary school is free and compulsory for children aged 6-14 but due to poverty many children remain out of school or drop out early to work for their families or pursue other activities such as begging or trading on street markets. Secondary school consists of two cycles: lower secondary (7th-9th grade) followed by upper secondary (10th-12th grade). At this level students are required to take part in classes designed to promote respect for national identity, culture, language and history while also teaching them about democratic values such as tolerance, democracy, human rights etc. Tertiary level education includes universities offering degree programs across numerous disciplines such as engineering, medicine and business studies as well as private colleges providing courses ranging from certificates through to postgraduate degrees such as Masters or Doctorates. However access to higher education is limited due to poverty with only those from wealthier families being able to afford university tuition fees while those from poorer backgrounds are often unable to pursue further study opportunities due lack of financial resources.
