Marbella is a large city on Spain’s Costa del Sol and is also very popular as a holiday destination due to its fantastic climate. Marbella has around 150,000 permanent residents, around 30% of whom are from abroad (especially Great Britain).

The city belongs to the autonomous region of Andalusia, one of the sunniest areas in all of Europe. Marbella has a very interesting old town, the beautifully designed beach promenade Paseo Maritimo and sophisticated marinas such as the marina of Puerto Banus.

The journey to Marbella usually takes place via Malaga airport, which is around 45 kilometers away and can be reached in around 35 minutes via the A-7 toll motorway. Numerous airlines fly directly to Málaga, including Lufthansa.

The flight time from Germany is about 2:20 hours. If you do not rent a car after landing and do not book a package tour with transfer, you can also reach Marbella from the Aeroporto de Málaga cheaply and comfortably by public bus.

Popular excursion destinations near Marbella are the historic village of Ronda (with the impressive Punte Nuevo bridge over the gorge), the British territory of Gibraltar with its monkey rock and the cities of Seville and Grenada, which are around three hours away by car.

Climate in Marbella (Costa del Sol)

The Costa del Sol of Andalusia is a sun-drenched region with little rainfall and a subtropical Mediterranean climate. This also applies to Marbella, which offers an ideal mix of dry, sunny summer months and pleasantly mild winter months.
