Geographical location
Short for ACE by abbreviationfinder, Lanzarote is the fourth largest island in the Canaries and is located in the Atlantic Ocean. The volcanic island is home to around 142,132 residents, the capital is Arrecife in the east of the island.
Lanzarote has an area of over 845 square kilometers and is divided into seven regions. The metropolitan area around the capital Arrecife is the economic center of the island and there is a large port here.
Lanzarote was the first island to be declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993. The Spanish island is north of Fuerteventura and thus forms the northern end of the Canary Islands. Lanzarote is about 100 kilometers away from Morocco.
From Frankfurt Arrecife can be reached in around 4.5 hours by flight.
Climate in Lanzarote
As on all Canary Islands, Lanzarote has a subtropical climate, which is characterized by very little rainfall. The constant north-east trade wind regularly causes winds and clouds, which, however, rarely rain due to the geographical, rather flat nature. Annual precipitation is less than 120 millimeters. At altitudes above 700 meters there can be up to 300 millimeters of annual precipitation.
From December to February, it comes to most of the rains, but they remain very manageable. Lanzarote is characterized by mild temperatures all year round. In winter the temperatures drop to just under 20 degrees, in summer they rise to up to 30 ° C. The annual average temperature is around 20 degrees. The warmest temperatures of 27 to 29 ° C are found in the months of July to October.
When to go to Lanzarote
It is not without reason that the Canaries are referred to as the “islands of eternal spring”. Lanzarote is a real year-round destination and, along with the other Canary Islands, is also a popular refuge for sun seekers in winter. It is dry all year round, most of the rain falls between December and February, but even these months are by no means rainy with a maximum of 52 millimeters of precipitation.
We recommend the summer months as the best time to travel to Tenerife, when you can look forward to up to 11 hours of sun a day and fantastic weather. The season starts around May, the ideal travel time is from mid- June to the end of October. The Atlantic is also from June to mid- November at 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, it is still refreshing, but quite suitable for bathing.

Temperatures
