Kos, Greece Weather and Climate
General & Geography
Kos is located in the Eastern Aegean Sea and, along with Rhodes and Karpathos, is part of the Dodecanese archipelago, which includes about 25 inhabited islands.
The Greek island of Kos is home to around 35,000 inhabitants, most of whom live in the town of the same name, Kos, with around 20,000 inhabitants.
Kos is located directly at the entrance to the Gulf of Gökova and is at the shortest point only four kilometers from the Turkish city of Bodrum. The highest point on the island is the up to 846 meter high Dikeos massif in the east of Kos.
In addition to the dreamlike, almost 30 kilometers long sandy beaches and high-class holiday hotels, Kos is also known for its charming villages and fertile plains, which are used, among other things, for the cultivation of citrus fruits, almonds and grapes.
The journey usually takes place via the island’s own airport Kos-Hippocrates, which is served by several Greek airlines and, especially during the high season, by German holiday airlines.
The direct flight time from Germany to Kos is around three hours.
