Costa Brava, Spain Weather and Climate

General & Geography

The popular holiday region Costa Brava (“Wild Coast”) covers over 200 kilometers of the northeastern Mediterranean coast of the Spanish region of Catalonia. It extends from Portbou on the Pyrenees to Lloret de Mar.

The metropolitan province of Barcelona begins at the southern end of the Costa Brava. The coast owes its name to the partly rugged rock formations and steeply sloping Serras. Nevertheless, there are also a number of wonderful sandy beaches, including at Sant Pere Pescador and the resort of Empuriabrava.

The overall rough coast is unsurpassed in terms of natural beauty, and active vacationers and bathing vacationers alike get their money’s worth on the Costa Brava.
