Our Kellys are made from AISI4145 modified alloy bars that are quenched and tempered full length. A hardness range of 285 to 341 BHN and a minimum impact value of 54 Joules as per ASTM A 372 Chirpy are maintained one inch bellow the surface at room temperature. To improve resistance to galling, all the connections are phosphatized and coated with an API thread compound. Each bar or tube used to manufacture kellys have been examined with magnetic particle inspections and ultrasonic inspections.
