Arizona Tile carries three selections of Crema Marfil. Crema Marfil Select will be the highest in quality, showing fewer veins and an overall more consistent tone. Unlike the traditional polished finish produced by using abrasive disks, the country finish is achieved by using abrasive brushes to dig into the softer areas of the stone. This exposes the harder veins and areas, resulting in an irregular, yet smooth, surface with undulating waves. In this process, the color becomes slightly muted, giving it a warmer and softer look. It is a common characteristic for this stone to have voids in the raw material. Before it reaches the finishing stages, these voids are filled with a polyester resin. Depending on how deep the void is, the resin may shrink as it dries, which will leave the surface of the filled area slightly lower than the rest.
